When I start a new painting it’s nice to sometimes have no fixed idea of what the painting is going the be. To start really abstract. To lose control and begin with the chaos of the unconscious. Then, when you have something you like, to stare at it for a while until, gradually, the subject of the painting suggests itself to you. Doesn’t always work, but when it does it’s magic. It’s chaos and control.
