WORDS & PICTURES
JM GALLERY
I’ve always been fascinated by the way words shape what we see—how a phrase can reframe an image, inject humour, or shift the emotional tone. In this series, I’ve brought that love of language to the forefront.
May 1st to May 13th
230 Portobello Road, W11 1LJ
Amazing two weeks in Notting Hill. Thanks to all who popped in.

SURF’S UP
SOLO SHOW
May 1st to May 7th
JM Gallery,
230 Portobello Road, W11 1LJ
In this latest exhibition, I’m showing a collection dedicated entirely to my surf paintings. I paint these every once in a while and they always prove to be popular so I’m doing a few of them at the same time. Multiple images in lush colours of crashing waves, perfect sunsets, giant tubes and dynamic surfers. As always, I try to build the pieces with many different layers of paint, glue, oil and resin to create texture so that the paintings always have a delicious physicality when seen in the flesh.
Once again, we loved being in Notting Hill for the week. Thanks to everyone who came in to have a look at the paintings, many of whom have found new homes.

GOBSTOPPER
6th to 11th March
BRICK LANE GALLERY, 216 Brick Lane, E1 6SA
In this latest exhibition Phil introduces us to a collection full of seemingly unconnected images where reality takes an increasingly back seat. He’s not so interested in recreating necessarily recognisable shapes, figures and places. The paintings often emerge from randomly abstract backgrounds. Dive bombing female bathers. A young deer in a dark wood. Cowboys heading home. Ice Fishermen. Kissing couples. Surfers. Crazy Golfers. Sailors riding out a squall. Multiple images in lush colours that ask you how they make you feel rather than what you think. go here.
Thanks to those of you that visited the The Gallery. We loved our week in Brick Lane and said goodbye to a few favourite pieces.
27 APRIL - 2 MAY 2023
CANDYLAND
SOLO SHOW
JM Gallery, 230 Portobello Road, W11 1LJ
In this latest collection Phil introduced us to a rogues gallery of Runyan-esque characters that exist in a place he calls ‘CandyLand.’
Candyland is a wild and vivid place, existing somewhere between the sunbaked desert, endless sea, and the fevered imagination of Phil. It's full of gritty motels, towering palm trees, and neon-lit streets that pulse with life. But amid all the bright lights and bustling activity, there's a darker side to Candyland - one that lurks in seedy strip clubs, lonely laundromats, and deserted desert highways.
Thanks to everyone that came along to visit the show. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Notting Hill at the JM Gallery and have booked in for the same time next year.
